MILLA PEERUTIN

Up next, another member of the & Co.
Milla Peerutin is a sassy young mevrou currently studying second year fine art at Michaelis in Cape Town.
In her spare time, she takes commissions for artwork and created content for @sexteen. @sexteen is a space for young mevrouens to share their stories anonymously. It's a platform that shares the horrors that happen to women around South Africa, with contrasting and confronting illustrations.
@sexteen aims to be a safe space that allows for the feeling of 'you are not alone', with many people relating to each experience in their own way.
Contact Milla here @millaeloisedigital if you would like to buy a piece from her or commission your own custom and very special work of art!

WHAT, AND WHO INSPIRES YOU AND MAKES YOU HAPPY?
I'm surrounded by the most talented people every day at my university (studying a BA in Fine Art). My friends truly are so beyond inspirational when it comes to making the best art I can make. Their drive and determination inspire me to work harder and smarter to get to the point that I want to be.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT SOUTH AFRICA?
I love the ambition among the people. Everyone seems to be wanting to go somewhere, be something important and make a difference, leave their mark.

WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE ARTIST?
Definitely torn between a bunch. I feel like it's an impossible question to ask an artist. But I have a fondness for Frida Kahlo's work, as well as Tracey Emin's. But I couldn't simply pick one.

WHAT DO YOU THINK MAKES AFRIKAANS SUCH AN EFFECTIVE AND ENJOYABLE LANGUAGE?
I think it's incredibly expressive. There's something about the language that really gets your point across.
